"The Tolbooth Art Centre" I saw a children's book in the showcase of The Stewartry Museum. And the simple cover illustration of the childrens' book showed this building. A tolbooth (Scottish) means town house, and usually provided a council meeting chamber, a court house and a jail until the 19th century. Now the Tolbooth in Kirkcudbright is the Art Centre.
