The ratio of the sea and sky Usually when I paint both the sea and sky together, I divided the picture so the sky is twice as big as the sea. For this painting, however, the two are of equal size. Thus, the sky and sea compliment each other. What is left out of the upper sky is suggested in the lower part of the sea in this painting, and vice versa.
