"Ashness Bridge" We headed up the narrow road from Ashness Gate Pier to Ashness Bridge. I had no sooner caught sight of the bridge than I painted this bridge picture, looking upwards. I learned later that there would be a surprise view of Derwentwater from the upper side of the bridge and beyond that there would be the nice remote hamlet of Watendlath and Watendlath Tarn.
