"Jedburgh Abbey"
It was an easy bus ride from Melrose to Jedburgh. Beside the bus station there was a TIC which recommended three nice spots for painting. This was the first place. There was a stream between this vantage point and the Abbey. Everybody was enjoying the cool air and water. My favourite great watercolourist, Thomas Girtin, painted Jedburgh Abbey over the river in 1798 or 1799. That picture commanded a finer view of the river and the Abbey than now.
