"Abbotsford", the home of Sir Walter Scott
The American author Washington Irving visited Walter Scott in 1817 during his 17 years' stay in Britain. 200 years later I found this picturesque mansion retains the elegance of a snug gentleman's cottage, although it is somewhat rural. A special exhibition, "Turner & Scott: The Painter and The Poet" was held in the house. There was only a little pencil-drawing sketch book of Turner's. It was a bit of a disappointment.
