"Caledonian Canal" After the previous picture, we visited my old friend John who had been running the Castle View Guest House across the river from the castle, and had now retired and moved to a small house. He entertained us with sandwiches and beer and saw us off for the next painting venue, the five consecutive locks of the Caledonian canal. But it was not so attractive as there were no boats. Eventually we painted at a popular place in front of the sea lock and the mouth of the canal. |
