"Harpur centre", Bedford
When I was painting this picture an Indian lady approached and sat next me. She had been living here for over 20 years but she didn't know what this building was before it was converted into a shopping centre. According to the website of BMS, originally it was eThe Writing School', teaching copper plate handwriting. In 1834 it moved here, now the frontage is retained as part of the Harpur (shopping) Centre. In 1974 the Bedford Modern School moved to Manton Lane.
