"Henley-0n-Thames #2"
We were lucky enough to be unexpectedly present at the scene of this major event. It was the semifinal day of the Royal Regatta. Even on the bank across the river from the enclosures (reserved stands), there were many observers wearing, not posh, but casual outfits. I was full of motivation to paint a scene of this cheering bustle, but my student needed a quiet motif, and she vanished into the throng.I finished this painting in about one hour. And then I had to wait for her to come back and felt uneasy for about another hour. When we came back from Henley to Slough the hotel had repaired the water trouble and we were able to take a shower and have breakfast the next morning.
