"Pulteney Bridge and The Crescent Weir", Bath
To consume my student's last valid day rail pass we came to Bath. We crossed Pulteney Bridge and descended the twisted stairs to the Avon riverside. The gentleman who said hello to me in Japanese came here to see his mother who lives in the Empire Hotel. It is a reputed 'monstrosity and an unbelievable piece of pompous architecture' which commands the Crescent Weir. The man used to live in Tokugawa-village in Mejiro, Tokyo, near my mother's house.
